Why become a Hospice Volunteer?
Hospice volunteering is an opportunity to learn new skills and expand your knowledge and experience. Many volunteers consistently report that helping the terminally ill through hospice is not about dying, but about living. By giving of yourself and your time, you can make a difference in someone's life. Each volunteer brings unique gifts and talents to the Hospice program.
How do I become a Volunteer?
Potential volunteers meet with the Hospice Volunteer Coordinator for a personal interview which includes a reference and criminal background check. Community Nurses Hospice requires training for all volunteers. We will provide you with the option of an online training series or DVD's to view in your home. After you complete your training you are considered ready for a hospice assignment. A current hospice volunteer will be assigned to you to guide you through your first visits. Ongoing training and support is provided by Hospice staff.
